Hello, today's story is about a devotee who kept Lord Vishnu waiting till he finished his service to his parents. Without further ado, let's start.
Long ago there was a man named Pundlik lived with his aged parents. He was a great worshiper of Lord Krishna, a good disciple, and an extremely obedient son. Meanwhile, he got married to a gorgeous but wicked woman, whom he loved madly and started ignoring his old parents. Despaired by thier only son's behavior, they decided to leave for pilgrimage. Hpwever Pundlik's wife doubted her mother in law might take all money and jewellery with her, and if they died there, she won't have them ever, so she decided to go along.
As she was so beautiful, her husband considered her fragile to walk on foot, thus a horse was arranged to take her. Everyone out there criticized Pundlik for his disgraceful act, yet he was blinded by love for his wife. On the way, they came across a river, there some Sage girls were taking water, Pundlik stopped and ask them for some water for his wife. They became distressed and started cursing and taunting him, when asked for the reason, they told him, sinner like him shouldn't have talk to them on which Pundlik inquired about his sins. They said, a son like him, who was disregarding his Aged parents because of lust for his wife, was to be called miscreant and nothing else. He realised his fault and surrendered himself to his parents service.
Meantime, one day Lord Krishna visited him and saw him serving his parents. Lord summoned, but he asked Him to wait till he was done with his duties. Krishna was standing outside thus he threw a brick and requested Him to rest there. When he was done, what he found was Lord Vithal remained standing on the brick with Lady Rukmini. From that day onward He still is worshipped as Lord Vithal or Vithoba and Rakhumai form. After the name of Pundlik, He is also called Lord Panduranga.
This story described, are parents more important than even Lord Himself, and just serving parents can make a great devotee and even Lord admire them.
